This work stems from a workshop commissioned by Palazzo Fortuny and entitled Photos with Video Disturbances. Its challenge was seeing how the narrative value of photography could be increased by the insertion of video elements, that is, how the moving image could record traces of a story on those already pressed into the photographic plate.
The ritual theatricality of the event resulted in very long sessions – often over twelve hours – involving all participants, in which everyone had a role, an object to move, a flash to manage, a scene to shoot. During the workshop very long exposures were made and then layered one on top of the other on the sensitive plate, in an atmosphere of great participation that alternated moments of frantic work with others of silent waiting.
