This museum is dedicated to the cult of Archangel Michael and it was designed as an initiation journey that draws the visitor to the mysteries coming from the ancient tradition of pilgrimage to the sacred sites bound to the Archangel Michael. A sequence of environments progressively introduces the audience to the believer’s experience, offering a multimedia interpretation of situations typically linked to the cult.
The first environment is a hall where visitors can experience a proper immersive space. They then access a room peopled with apparitions, a gallery plastered over with video votive offerings, and a place where staged ambos make it possible to virtually leaf through sacred texts. A further room is dedicated to the discovery of the Longobards’ role in the spreading of the cult and the mysteries of the Archangel Michael. Finally, in the last environment, visitors can leave a trace as they follow a tradition practiced by pilgrims on the walls of the cave, but their mark now becomes an electronic graffiti.
