A wall that’s about 150 metres long and 2 metres high encloses the exterior of the ex-criminal asylum in Volterra. Its surface is entirely engraved with a vast narrative made up of words and drawings, tables and orbital diagrams. For twelve years Nanof has lived behind this wall, scratching at it and creating his own universe.
The graffiti is like an archaeological find before its time, in which all the issues of our contemporary life are addressed. The film aims to explore a parallel dimension, to enter the imaginary world of insanity, to read and see this incredible and hopeful diary, this life essay or wall in which the author’s mind has set sail.
