As the first core of the museum dedicated to the Visconti family, this environment among the restored walls of Belgioioso Castle features two main moments. The installations – a well and two windows – intrigue the visitor through landscapes and stories about the castle emerging from the past, and being activated by the audience.
The windows are actually mobile screens that can slide on the castle’s walls and that create the illusion of an opening on the outside. As they move along the wall, they virtually frame the gradual change in the landscapes of the area around Belgioioso. Dukes, Duchesses and inhabitants of the castle come to these windows. Moreover, by bending over the well, the visitor can see the faces of characters appear on its bottom: these figures will tell the audience about their history at the time of the Viscontis.
